PRF + Microneedling
Pre & Post Care Guide

Following these instructions carefully will help you achieve the best possible results and minimize any risk of complications. Please read through the full guide before your appointment.

What to Expect

PRF + Microneedling is a powerful combination treatment that uses your body's own platelet-rich fibrin alongside controlled micro-channels to stimulate deep collagen production and accelerate skin renewal. Here is what a typical treatment experience looks like:

  • A small amount of blood is drawn from your arm (similar to a routine blood test) and spun in a centrifuge to isolate your PRF.

  • A topical numbing cream is applied to your face for 30–45 minutes before treatment begins.

  • The microneedling device creates thousands of tiny micro-channels across the treatment area.

  • Your PRF is applied directly to the skin and massaged in, allowing the growth factors to penetrate deeply.

  • The full appointment typically takes 60–90 minutes.

  • Mild redness, warmth, and swelling are normal immediately after treatment.

Pre-Treatment Instructions

Preparing your skin properly before your appointment is essential for safety and optimal results.

7 Days Before

  • Discontinue use of retinol, tretinoin, retinoids, and all vitamin A derivatives.

  • Avoid exfoliating acids (AHAs, BHAs, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid).

  • Do not use any harsh or abrasive scrubs on the treatment area.

  • Avoid waxing, threading, laser treatments, or chemical peels.

  • Inform your provider of any medications, supplements, or medical conditions.

3 Days Before

  • Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements if medically safe to do so (aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, turmeric). Consult your doctor before stopping any prescribed medications.

  • Avoid alcohol consumption — it can thin the blood and affect PRF quality.

  • Stay well hydrated. Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment.

  • Avoid excessive sun exposure and do not come in with an active sunburn.

  • Do not use self-tanner or spray tan on the treatment area.

Day of Treatment

  • Arrive with a clean face — no makeup, moisturizer, sunscreen, or skincare products.

  • Eat a light meal and drink water before your appointment. Do not come in fasted.

  • Avoid caffeine on the morning of your appointment if possible.

  • Wear comfortable, loose clothing. Avoid tight collars or anything that may rub the face.

  • Let your provider know of any new medications, illnesses, or skin changes since your last visit.

Post-Treatment Instructions

The 72 hours following your treatment are critical. Your skin is in active repair mode — treat it gently and follow these guidelines closely.

First 24 Hours

  • Do NOT wash your face for at least 6–8 hours after treatment.

  • Do not apply any skincare products, makeup, or sunscreen for the first 24 hours.

  • Avoid touching, rubbing, or picking at the treated area.

  • Sleep on a clean pillowcase and try to sleep on your back to avoid friction.

  • Avoid sweating — no exercise, hot showers, saunas, or steam rooms.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure. If you must go outside, wear a wide-brimmed hat.

  • Do not apply ice or cold compresses directly to the skin.

Days 2–3

  • Gently cleanse with a mild, fragrance-free cleanser using your fingertips only — no washcloths or brushes.

  • Apply a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer to keep skin hydrated.

  • Continue to avoid all active ingredients: retinol, acids, vitamin C, benzoyl peroxide.

  • Avoid makeup if possible. If necessary, use only mineral-based products.

  • Continue to avoid sun exposure and strenuous exercise.

  • Some peeling, flaking, or tightness is normal — do not pick or peel the skin.

Days 4–7

  • You may gradually reintroduce your regular skincare routine as tolerated.

  • Begin applying SPF 30+ sunscreen daily — sun protection is essential during healing.

  • Avoid retinoids and strong exfoliants for at least 7–10 days post-treatment.

  • Stay hydrated and maintain a gentle skincare routine.

  • Contact your provider if you experience unusual pain, prolonged redness, or signs of infection.

  • Vitamin C serums — wait at least 5–7 days

  • Benzoyl peroxide or acne treatments — wait at least 7 days
