- Avoid blood-thinning medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen (Aleve), and NSAIDs for at least 7 days before treatment.
- Discontinue fish oil, vitamin E, flaxseed oil, and herbal supplements (ginkgo biloba, garlic, ginseng) for 7 days prior.
- Do not stop any prescribed medications — including finasteride or minoxidil — without consulting your physician first.
- Avoid alcohol for at least 24–48 hours before your appointment.
Scalp Preparation
- Wash your hair and scalp thoroughly on the day of treatment — arrive with a clean, product-free scalp.
- Do not apply any hair products (gels, sprays, dry shampoo, oils) on the day of your appointment.
- Avoid any scalp treatments, chemical services (color, relaxers, perms), or keratin treatments within 2 weeks prior.
- Inform your provider of any active scalp infections, psoriasis flares, or open wounds on the scalp.
Sun & Heat Exposure
- Avoid prolonged sun exposure to the scalp for at least 1 week before treatment.
- Do not receive any laser hair treatments or scalp procedures within 2 weeks prior.
- If you have a sunburned scalp, your appointment may need to be rescheduled.
Health & Lifestyle
- Eat a nutritious meal and drink plenty of water before your appointment — hydration supports optimal PRF yield.
- Inform your provider of any recent illnesses, infections, or changes in health status.
- Notify your provider if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a history of blood disorders or clotting conditions.
- Avoid smoking for at least 24 hours before treatment, as it can impair healing and PRF quality.
After Your Treatment
Post-Care Instructions

- Avoid touching, rubbing, or scratching the treated scalp area.
- Do not apply any hair products, oils, or topical treatments to the scalp for the first 24 hours.
- Expect mild redness, tenderness, or a sensation of tightness on the scalp — this is completely normal.
- Avoid bending forward or lying flat for at least 4 hours after treatment.
First 24–48 Hours
- When washing your hair, use a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo and lukewarm water.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms, and anything that causes heavy sweating for 48 hours.

First Week Recovery
- Avoid chemical hair services (color, bleach, relaxers, perms) for at least 2 weeks after treatment.
- Do not receive any laser scalp treatments or other scalp procedures for at least 2 weeks.
- Some mild shedding may occur in the weeks following treatment — this is a normal part of the hair growth cycle reset.
- Continue any prescribed hair loss medications (minoxidil, finasteride) as directed by your physician.
- Protect your scalp from direct sun exposure — wear a hat or apply SPF to the scalp when outdoors.

- Stay well hydrated and manage stress levels, as both significantly impact hair growth cycles.
Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
When will I see results from PRF Hair Restoration?
PRF Hair Restoration results develop gradually. Most clients begin to notice reduced shedding within 4–6 weeks, with visible improvements in thickness and new growth appearing at 3–6 months. Full results are typically seen after completing a series of 3 sessions.
Is it normal for hair to shed after PRF treatment?
Yes, some mild shedding in the weeks following treatment is completely normal. This is part of the hair growth cycle reset — old, weakened hairs shed to make way for stronger, healthier new growth stimulated by the PRF.
How many sessions do I need?
We recommend a series of 3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart for optimal results. After completing your initial series, maintenance sessions every 6–12 months help sustain and build on your results.
Can I continue using minoxidil or finasteride after PRF?
Yes — PRF Hair Restoration works well alongside topical and oral hair loss medications. Continue any prescribed treatments as directed by your physician. PRF can actually enhance the effectiveness of these medications.
When can I color or chemically treat my hair after PRF?
Wait at least 2 weeks after your PRF treatment before any chemical hair services such as color, bleach, relaxers, or keratin treatments. This allows the scalp to fully heal and ensures the PRF has been properly absorbed.
Is PRF Hair Restoration painful?
A topical numbing cream is applied to the scalp before treatment to minimize discomfort. Most clients describe the sensation as mild pressure or a light tingling. Any tenderness after the procedure typically resolves within 24–48 hours.
